Our Story

Hard Work Is an Important Factor in Achieving Success, but It Takes Good Luck Too

Pete Teh is the founder of K-Tech Auto Solutions Pte Ltd, one of the only three IMI (UK) automotive training approved centres in Singapore. He also founded Motoserv, a car servicing chain workshop with six outlets island wide.

“Every successful person has to go through countless failures, then can succeed. I don’t believe in a copycat business. Because it is not entrepreneurship. It is just an investment. If you want to see money faster, you can start a copycat business. If you’re planning to be an entrepreneur, then be prepared that you will not see fast money. Don’t start a business just because you see other people are making money. Start with a passion.”

Founder of K-Tech Auto Solutions Pte Ltd / Motoserv Pte Ltd

K-Tech Auto Solution Pte Ltd specialises in helping clients set up automotive workshop facilities. The company is also an authorised training institute approved by the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI). IMI is a professional governing body of the worldwide motor vehicle industry based on data, standards and certifications. Presently there are just three IMI approved centres in Singapore.

Before starting K-Tech, Pete worked as a car mechanic in one of the local workshops for many years. Since he was young, he developed a strong passion for car mechanisms. He worked very hard to gain the experience and skills essential to repair all sorts of vehicles during his career.

In 2017, hybrids and electric vehicles (EV) were in high demand in Singapore. Pete tapped onto this opportunity since there was no training institution or diagnostic equipment available to help mechanics fix these complex hybrid car or EV issues. One can not simply repair a car with guesswork based on individual bias and experience; as automotive technology becomes more advanced – it will only lead to human error. A mechanic must have specialised skills and the proper diagnostic tool before they can resolve such an issue.

Therefore, Pete and his teams decided to form an academy under K-Tech, to train Singapore’s workshop operators and car mechanics on the specialised skills. They recruited curriculum developers, trainers, and industry champions of hybrid/EV cars and the motor industry. They also invited the assessor from the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) to discuss and help set up the approved training centre.

The teams at K-Tech were also invited to supply Automotive Equipment to educational institutions such as ITEs and the polytechnics.

In 2015, after 11 years of providing automotive solutions and equipment to local workshops and mechanics, Pete and his team founded their own workshop brand, Motoserv Pte Ltd.

Their objective is to provide car servicing services with better diagnostic tools and an improved customer experience. We aim to provide the highest quality service possible by ensuring our technicians are well-trained, equipped with the proper tools, and have access to relevant information so that they can deliver optimal results consistently.

We want you to know that when you bring your car here for service or maintenance, we’ll treat it as if it were our own—with care and attention!

After just six years, the company has grown from two to six workshops in Singapore— it’s now one of the country’s largest car serving brands.

To ensure quality in customer service, Motoserv was awarded the prestigious CASETRUST accreditation. When we ask Pete about what makes for success as an entrepreneur like him? He says he doesn’t think anyone deserves that title because if it weren’t for his talented and hardworking teams — he wouldn’t have been able to grow this big!

Our Values

When You Fail, Just Stand Up and Try Again

Pete had no financial backing from an angel investor or venture capitalist when he started K-Tech. He relied entirely on his hard-earned savings as seed capital. The first few years were challenging, as the company struggled with gaining attention and educating customers about its products and services. With limited capital, any business can perish without constant dedication and perseverance.

Despite the setbacks—big or small—Pete remained determined to turn his dream into reality. The journey would have been far more difficult without the support of his hardworking employees, who stood by him and helped bring his vision to life.

Even as the business began to grow, Pete never allowed ego to take control. He continued learning, improving his management approach, and strengthening his industry-related skills. Through continuous self-development, he built the resilience and strong mentality needed to overcome every obstacle along the way.

Our Team

Nurturing a Sense of Belonging at the Workplace

People are an organisation’s greatest asset, and Pete firmly believes that building a strong team starts with hiring passionate individuals who demonstrate a solid work ethic. He is always forward-looking in recruiting people who not only have the right skills but also the right mindset.

With electric vehicles representing a relatively new era in the automotive industry, Pete aims to develop more local talent capable of mastering the specialised skills required to service EVs efficiently. He also hopes that the government will continue supporting this initiative by encouraging more individuals to enrol in relevant training programmes.

Pete strongly believes that businesses thrive when employees feel a genuine sense of belonging and intrinsic motivation. Work should not be viewed as simply clocking in at 9 am and leaving at 5 pm. Instead, it should be a place where individuals grow, learn, and take ownership of their responsibilities.

He also emphasises the importance of empowering employees to make independent decisions. Pete discourages micromanagement, as it creates over-reliance on upper management and limits staff members’ ability to grow and perform when leadership is not immediately present.

At each outlet, staff members handle customer matters independently unless an issue requires higher-level support. Minor matters are managed internally and reported to their workshop manager, general manager, or Pete when necessary.

Ultimately, Pete’s story highlights three defining qualities of a successful entrepreneur: determination, humility, and a willingness to teach.
